The Bedrooms

All the bedrooms are comfortably furnished with TV, tea and coffee making facilities, trouser press and ensuite bathrooms. The character of the rooms vary throughout the hotel from our charming converted stables through to our exquisite four-poster bedroom with whirlpool bath.

Stable Rooms

The converted stables offer a good deal of privacy and are unique in character. The bedroom is situated on the ground floor, with a first floor bathroom accessible by wooden staircase. There is also the facility to park outside the room. Four of the stable rooms also have the bathroom on the ground floor, making them ideal for people who are elderly or infirm and like to avoid steps and staircases.

Manor House Rooms

The rooms in the main house are all very comfortably furnished in a country manor style. We have avoided focusing on being grand and concentrate much more on being extremely comfortable and welcoming. Three of the rooms in the house are premier rooms, one with four poster bed and whirlpool bath and another being a two room suite (suitable for families)

The Restaurant

The Petty France restaurant is one of the major attractions of the hotel and has earnt us high praise from many major food critics and has us featured in many guides. Graham Simmons, responsible for our kitchen, offers well-presented English food, sometimes with an international hint at remarkably reasonable prices considering the amount of work which goes into each and every dish. Every dish is freshly prepared and cooked to order.

The restaurant itself is bright and airy and completely non-smoking to allow you to enjoy the wonderful aromas and tastes in comfort. Our service is all white linen and fine china, with lead crystal wine glasses for that traditional feel.

Start with a selection of breads such as our popular Gruyere and red onion or more traditional olive bread, then perhaps try smoked pigeon breast with pink grapefruit, followed by our complimentary sorbet course (currently mango) to freshen the palate. For main course, if you are feeling brave, then opt for the Beverstone Steak Mark Fourteen which is a traditional fillet steak with a filling of stilton, leek and onion farcie, which is then wrapped in bacon and baked in the oven. Give yourself a few minutes to recover then make your choice from our dessert menu, all of which are individual and exquisite, such as our chocolate and rum iced souffle or homemade lemon tart (alternatively you could choose from one of our many unpasteurised English cheeses or sample some of our homemade ice-creams - such as ginger and meringue or apricot and amaretto).

Finally, why not finish off the meal with a cafetiere of coffee in the lounge whilst relaxing in front of the real log fire, perhaps with a Scottish malt or a fine Cognac.
